Celebrating the Year of the Snake with Fun and Joy

2025年1月26日，童心艺术中文学校迎来了热闹的中国新年·蛇年春节庆祝活动。尽管当天各班都是正常上课，但课间十分钟开展的春节特别活动，让每个教室都洋溢着欢乐的年味儿。

On January 26, 2025, Madison Fine Arts Chinese School (MFACS) joyfully celebrated the Chinese New Year — the Year of the Snake! While regular classes were in session, a series of special celebration activities during class breaks filled every classroom with festive cheer.

为了让学生更好地感受节日氛围，学校特意为孩子们准备了春节小贺卡、吉祥挂件、对联和福字，并鼓励大家身穿唐装或中式喜庆服装拍照，增添节日的气息。孩子们欢笑不断，兴致勃勃地合影留念，还收获了丰富的春节文化知识。

To help our students feel this holiday spirit, our school thoughtfully prepared festive greeting cards, lucky decorations, couplets, and red Chinese "Fu" characters (blessing for good fortune). Kids were encouraged to wear traditional Chinese outfits, making the day feel even more special. Laughter and excitement filled the air as students snapped photos together and learned all about the rich traditions of Chinese New Year.

各中文班级的老师们精心准备了“欢庆蛇年”的主题课件幻灯片，为孩子们讲解中国农历新年的传统习俗，并通过趣味游戏加深他们对蛇年春节的认识。

In each Chinese language class, teachers carefully put together fun and colorful presentations focusing on the Year of the Snake, helping students learn traditions of the Chinese New Year through interactive games and hands-on activities.

当天的亮点是美术书法班的学生们以其独特的书法作品迎接蛇年。他们在课堂上认真学习了篆书“福”字和 “瑞蛇迎春”，不仅用水写布刻苦练习笔画，还在红色的宣纸上规范书写，每位学生都完成了令人自豪的书法作品。篆书的修长字形和流畅线条让孩子们深刻体会到中国书法的艺术魅力。每一幅作品都饱含着孩子们对新年的美好祝愿。老师们也鼓励家长将孩子的作品贴在家中，为家庭增添新春祥和的喜气。

One of the highlights of the day was the special calligraphy session in the Art and Calligraphy class. Students learned how to write the Chinese character "Fu" (which means good fortune) and the phrase "Auspicious Snake Welcomes Spring." They practiced diligently on water-writing cloth and then created beautiful final pieces on red calligraphy paper. The elegant strokes of Chinese calligraphy helped students appreciate the beauty of this ancient art. Each student’s work was full of New Year wishes, and teachers encouraged families to display the artwork at home to bring blessing and joy to their families.

此次春节活动不仅让孩子们在轻松愉快的氛围中学习了中文和传统文化，更让他们体会到了中国春节的欢乐与阖家团圆的精神。2025年是中国春节首次被列入联合国非物质文化遗产名录的一年，童心中文学校也借此机会让学生们更加了解今年春节的特殊意义，珍惜并传承这一中华民族的重要节日。

This celebration wasn’t just about having fun—it was also a great way for students to learn Chinese language and experience traditional culture in a lively and exciting way. Notably, 2025 marks the first year that Chinese New Year has been officially recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Through this event, students gained a deeper appreciation for this significant cultural tradition and the importance of passing it on to future generations.

童心的老师们晚上在一级棒餐馆欢聚一堂，共同迎接新年的到来。老师们在轻松愉快的氛围中，认真讨论、积极交流，提出了许多有益于学校发展的好主意和建议。通过这次聚会，大家彼此之间也增进了友谊，互相了解、互相帮助，就像一个大家庭。相信在新的一年里，童心中校将通过老师们的共同努力，在各个方面不断成长与进步！

The teachers of MFACS also gathered for a cozy New Year’s dinner at the Ichiban Restaurant. In a warm and lively atmosphere, teachers shared ideas, discussed school development, and exchanged valuable insights. This gathering helped bring our colleagues closer and foster a sense of teamwork, just like a big family. With everyone’s collective efforts, MFACS looks forward to continuous growth and progress in the coming year!
